Our self-catering cottage was the original stables and coach house of Boreham House. Inside the cottage the accommodation has been renovated to a very high standard while retaining much of the original character.
On the ground floor there is an open plan living / dining room and kitchen, a bathroom with both a bath and a separate walk-in shower, and the main bedroom with double bed. Upstairs there is a second bedroom in what was the hayloft of the stables which has twin beds, although this can also be configured as a superking double bed if required. The beds all have sumptuous handmade pocket sprung mattresses and luxurious Egyptian linen and towels are provided. The living room and both bedrooms have flat screen HD TVs. and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the cottage.
Doors lead from the living area to a patio where there is a table and chairs, two sun recliners and a barbeque. There is also access from the patio to the extensive gardens and grounds of the house that guests are welcome to use and enjoy throughout their stay.

The Bull’s Head at Boreham Street (BN27 4SG) – this traditional local pub is just 100 metres down the road. It has recently won CAMRA’s Country Pub of the Year for the South East. It serves very good food and Harvey’s traditional Sussex ales – there should be a current menu in the snug (there is also a specials board). The Ash Tree Inn at Ashburnham (TN33 9NX) – a lovely old 17th century Inn set in the tiny parish of Ashburnham. A free house offering hospitality and good home cooked food and only a couple of miles away from Boreham House. ashtreeinn.com

The Stables at Boreham House is about 6 miles east of Hailsham and 6 miles west of Battle on the A271. Arriving from the East: You will approach Boreham Street on the A271 up a hill. As the road levels off you will see the signpost for Boreham Street where a 30 mile per hour speed limit starts for the village. We are about 200 metres further on the right hand side – look out for the distinctive Yew hedge – the entrance to the courtyard for parking is just after the hedge. Note: if you reach the Bulls Head pub, you have gone about 100 metres too far! Arriving from the West: When you reach Boreham Street on the A271 drive through the village until you pass the Bulls Head pub on you right (you can’t miss it). We are about 100 metres further on the left hand side – look out for the distinctive Yew hedge – the entrance to the courtyard for parking is just before the hedge.
The Stables at Boreham House is approximately 10 minutes drive from Battle railway station. There are trains to London (Cannon Street , Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East) two or three times an hour. Pevensey and Westham station is about the same distance, with Eastbourne and Polegate stations being about a 20 minute drive away. There is an hourly train to and from London (Victoria) to those stations.
Gatwick Airport is about 1 hour by car from The Stables at Boreham House. There is also a regular direct train service to Polegate and Eastbourne from the Airport. Polegate and Eastbourne stations are about 15-20 minutes away by car where taxis are available for hire if required.
